Dire Straits "Money For Nothing": How in the heck did I never realize that Sting's vocal parts are sung to the tune of the Police's "Don't Stand"!

Its the same tune! Apparently Virgin records figured it out and demanded Sting get a writing credit, which Sting himself did not want. But the lawyers jammed it through anyway.
I'm old. Been listening to this song since it came out. How could I have never realized this before?
Also the whole thing was just pure kismet as Knopfler and band were recording in a tiny cramped studio on Montserrat, Mark said this part would be perfect for Sting and someone told him Sting just happened to be vacationing on the island. They called him and he did that take that day.
