Justin Biebers Coachella preformance was an artistic direction and not laziness.
There seems to be a divide on Jb’s performance. Compared to artists like Sabrina carpenter or Karol g it appears that sitting on a stool and play YouTube videos of his past music was low effort. Especially considering he’s the highest paid artist this year.
However it pretty clear this is all intentional.
He actually rehearsed his set
And he did a similar stripped down(no pun intended) performance at the Grammys
On top of this his latest album has a different feel than his past stuff. Of course he could have had dancers and an extravagant set but I would say it doesn’t fit in the context of where he is as an artist.
I like to compare his current state to someone like Adele. Adele is the type of singer that can step on stage in a simple dress and move the crowd with her voice alone she doesn’t need theatrics to create a memorable night for her fans.
Sabrina is an incredible performer that has exploded into one of the biggest pop stars in the world and the effort she puts into her live performances contributes to that. But artistic eras are temporary. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wanted to sing in front of a mic with a guitar later down the line.
