Immigration Enforcement & Its Affect on the Industry
Disclaimer: Please don't interoperate this as a political debate post. I am just curious as to this current policies real affect on other industry professionals and their business.
Just curious how the immigration crackdown over the last year has effected everyone and their job sites? GC in Texas, and I am seeing numerous crews that are no longer around and the price required to secure reliable contract labor rising. People that would drive in from other towns for work are no longer doing so, and many contacts have entirely ghosted us. I suspect due to deportation. Sure, there is still labor to be found, but it seems the already strained labor market is certainly getting worse. We've actually had a couple of jobs raided by ice and some laborers on contract crews get scooped up from the site. Needless to say, quite a few no shows the next day.
