Struggling w altitude, need some advice

Hi guys, I’m in Huaraz, Peru which is just over 3000m in altitude. This is my first experience with altitude and I‘m also travelling alone.

I arrived 4 days ago on the bus straight from Lima (sea level). The first day I took it easy, wandered around town, had a mild headache but that was all. The next day I hiked Lake Wilcacochoa (3700m), just had the mild headache on the way up but then on return had progressively worsening nausea and as soon as I got back to my hostel I threw up and was stuck in bed with a pounding headache, feeling chilled, exhausted. Was a pretty terrible night. Took some diamox along with panadol and the next day it was mainly just the nausea, couldn’t keep breakfast down. But by the afternoon things felt calmer and I took a guide’s suggestion to do a nearby lookout which was only 3300m or so. Felt okay and managed to have a proper meal for dinner.

Now it’s like 3am and I keep waking up with air hunger - when I sit up I feel okay. No other symptoms except a rare dry cough when I wake up gasping. I don’t know if there’s an element of anxiety too. I was going to do Laguna Churup during the day which goes to 4200m but I’m worried about getting ill again. The thing is I put down a deposit for the 10 day huayhuash trek starting tomorrow and Churup was supposed to be the last test but I think maybe I’m quite sensitive to altitude and need some more days to acclimatise. If anyone has any advice to give me I would appreciate it hugely.
