Paper books aren’t always better than e-books

I’ve probably heard the claim that paper books are more enjoyable a hundred times, but I've rarely heard anyone say that collecting a library of paper books, storing them, keeping them in good condition, and moving them when you move somewhere else is a whole other game. And often a huge pain in the ass.

I’ve had some relatives who immigrated from one country to another multiple times in their life, and each time they had no choice but to leave all their favorite books behind, and later regret it and think about how good their previous libraries were. Even when you have a relatively small library of your books, they already have significant weight and take some space in the luggage, you need another bag or suitcase to move them.

And I’m not even talking about serious movings. Current reality is that you often have to change apartments every few months or every couple of years in the best-case scenario. You just don’t have your own stable home where you can keep all your library of favorite paper books. If, besides all the things, I’d had to also carry my paper library each time I move from one apartment to another - man, I’d suffer so much more.

Also, if the book wasn’t originally written in English, then it’s probably a translation, and not all translations are equally good, and some are really crappy. But once you’ve bought the paper book - you’re stuck with whatever version you got. You can’t change the translation, you can’t change the font, the size of the font, etc.

Sure man, having your own physical media is nice, and I’ll have my own paper library when I have my own stable home where I can constantly store it. But for now, I’ll stick to the e-books
