Layman explanation for entanglement

I’ve been trying to come up with an intuitive yet fundamentally accurate way of explaining quantum entanglement to my non-physicist friends, and I'd love your thoughts on this analogy. Feel free to suggest improvements or alternative explanations!

Imagine flipping a coin into a box and closing it without checking which side landed facing up. Before opening the box, there's a 50% chance the coin is heads-up and a 50% chance it's tails-up. Similarly, the side facing down also has a 50% chance of being heads or tails. At this point, both sides of the coin exist in a "superposition"—a state where each outcome (heads or tails) is equally possible.

However, one thing is certain: whatever side is facing up, the opposite side is necessarily facing down. Thus, these two sides are intrinsically linked. When you open the box and observe the side facing up, its superposition "collapses" into either heads or tails. Simultaneously, the opposite side instantly "collapses" into the opposite state.

This instantaneous linking of states—where measuring one immediately determines the state of the other—is essentially what physicists describe as quantum entanglement.
