Today: German sayings. Walk around the pudding.
When Germans take a short walk (and they do so primarily after eating lunch or drinking coffee in the afternoon - YES, they are crazy!), then they "walk around the pudding."
Einmal um den Pudding gehen.
However, this expression is only known in the north of Germany. The origin is not clearly documented.
It is assumed that one of the researchers of the Dr. Oetker company came from Bremen. This person was instrumental in the development of the pudding powder.
So while the steaming bowl of pudding was on the table on Sunday, the researcher's family went for a short walk until the sweet dessert had cooled down.
Another theory is that the Dr. Oetker factory in Bielefeld had the ideal dimensions for taking a short walk around the company grounds.

Well my West Virginia word is aorta and no it's not the main vein from the heart. In West Virginia aorta means they ought to. Used in a sentence : That pudding is hot! Aorta walk around the pudding! Joking of course. lol
