Villa Yves saint laurent in marrakech: Yves Saint Laurent was thirty years old when he first went to Morocco, accompanied by his lifelong lover, Pierre Bergé. He immediately fell in love with the country for its culture, its colours and its setting: he said "Marrakech, for me, is paradise". His visits were very frequent, up to twice a year, without any weariness. His last wish was to permanently reside in the city since his ashes were deposited in the heart of the Majorelle Garden. In 1974, Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent acquired Dar Es Saada. In 1980, they learned that the nearby Jardin Majorelle was threatened by a real-estate development project and decided to acquire the garden and adjoining villa, which had belonged to the painter Jacques Majorelle. Together, they restored the garden and created a museum of Islamic art designed by Bill Willis in Majorelle’s former studio. In 2011, the museum was converted into a museum of Berber art.
