I got motorized blackout shades a month ago and before that i kept saying it was a pointless thing to buy. the thing i ended up liking is them opening slowly in the morning with the sun so i wake up to that instead of an alarm. they went up without any drilling which was one less thing to worry about and the battery is still doing ok after a month. the blackout works for most of the day but i notice a little light around the sides sometimes when its really bright outside. i mostly leave them on the schedule and dont mess with the settings much. after the first few days i stopped checking if they were working and just let them do their thing. its not like they changed my whole routine or anything but the morning part is the only reason i still use them every day.
still not sure what other smart home stuff people actually use though. #home source
How do you compare safety sensors across automatic litter boxes?
Sensor counts are becoming one of those product specs that look impressive without telling me much about how the machine actually responds. I'm more interested in what happens if a cat approaches during cleaning than in seeing the largest number of sensors. ive been comparing the published safety descriptions for petpivot and Neakasa but the exact models matter because different designs may detect movement in different places. I wouldn't treat either brand's marketing diagram as independent safety testing.
When comparing two automatic litter boxes, which documented interruption behavior would give you the clearest evidence that the safety system was properly designed? #home
