During last night's rec play, a 4.0 player kept messing up his serve big time. At first, I thought he was just clowning around. But it continued to happen about 90% of his serves, as the ball was always out by big margins. I've seen this happen before at a tournament.
Has this happen to you before? Or to your team mates? What kind of advice did you give or do for yourself? #sport
Backhand flicks turning at the shoulder, not the wrist
Just watched the Ed Ju video with Dani Townsend where they go over using your shoulder to generate the torque for the backhand flick instead of your wrist and I’ve been so much more consistent and aggressive with my flicks. Go check it out and try it for yourself! #sport source
I’m Rafael Filippini, Founder & CEO of Gearbox. Ask Me Anything!
Gearbox Sports is a performance equipment company focused on pickleball, racquetball, squash and paddle sports.
I founded Gearbox in 2007 after years working with advanced composite materials and wanting to challenge the limitations of traditional racquet and paddle construction. That led us to develop our patented Solid Span Technology (SST), and we’ve continued building our products around the idea that performance starts with what’s happening inside the equipment, not just what you can see on the surface.
For nearly 20 years, the team and I have had the opportunity to take Gearbox from its roots in racquetball into pickleball and other paddle sports, while staying deeply involved in product development, engineering and testing.
Today, Gearbox works with professional athletes, tours, clubs and players at every level. We’re always exploring new areas of paddle technology, including our latest developments with the Pressure X.
Ask me anything about Gearbox, paddle technology, product development, pickleball, racquetball, building a sports brand, or where I think the industry is headed.
I’m planning to answer as many of your questions as I can, so feel free to submit them prior to Sunday at 11:00 AM EST. Ask me anything!
