Good morning and Happy Sunday, my dear friends! 🌞🌸
Let me tell you a little about one of our traditions here in Mauritius for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary . 🙏🏼💙 Every year, we usually have a special cake called “Gâteau Marie.” 🍰 It’s almost a must-have for the celebration!
Now, I have to confess something, 😂 I usually don’t really like the ones sold in the shops. I much prefer making my own because, of course, I always think mine is better! 🤣👩🍳 But yesterday I simply didn’t have enough time to make one. So my nephew came to the rescue and bought one. And when I saw it, I thought, “Okay, this is not exactly my homemade Gâteau Marie, but let’s give it a chance!” 😂
And guess what? It came with LOTS of chantilly! 🤣🍰☁️ Honestly, there was so much whipped cream that the cake was practically hiding underneath it! At this point, I’m not sure whether we were celebrating the Assumption or the Assumption of the Cake into a Mountain of Chantilly! 😂😂
But traditions are traditions, and even when the cake isn’t homemade, it still brings everyone together around the table. ❤️ Family, laughter, a little sweetness, and perhaps enough chantilly to last until Christmas! 🤣
So today, I’m still enjoying our little Mauritian tradition with a grateful heart, and trying very hard not to eat the whole cake! 😋🍰
May your Sunday be filled with faith, family, love, laughter, and of course, a delicious slice of cake! ❤️✨🙏🏼🌹
Good morning, my dear friends! 🌞🌸 Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to the weekend.
Today is a very special day because we’re celebrating both the Feast of the Assumption and India’s Independence Day ! 🙏🏼And I thought, what better way to celebrate two important occasions than with prayers, happiness, and a little food? 😂🍛
I imagine the day starting very peacefully, prayers, beautiful thoughts, everyone being grateful, and then suddenly someone asks the most important question: “Okay, but what are we eating?” 🤣🤣 Because let’s be honest, no celebration is truly complete until someone is standing near the kitchen asking when the food will be ready! 😋
And India’s Independence Day? You have the flag, the celebrations, the music, the speeches, and somewhere in the background, one person is already thinking about lunch! 😂 By afternoon, the serious patriotic mood has probably turned into, “Who wants another samosa?” 🤣🥟
Meanwhile, for the Feast of the Assumption, we can be wonderfully peaceful and thankful, until somebody discovers there is dessert. Then suddenly everyone becomes very enthusiastic about celebrating! 😂🍰🙏🏼
Jokes aside, both occasions remind us of beautiful things, faith, gratitude, freedom, sacrifice, hope, and coming together with others. ❤️🌿
So let’s celebrate with grateful hearts, happy smiles, good food, and absolutely no guilt about that second helping! 😂😋
Happy Feast of the Assumption to all who are celebrating! 🙏🏼🌹 And Happy Independence Day to all my Indian friends! 💚🤍🧡 May your day be filled with peace, joy, love, laughter, and plenty of delicious food! 🥰✨
