Good morning and Happy Sunday, my dear friends! ππΈ
Let me tell you a little about one of our traditions here in Mauritius for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary . ππΌπ Every year, we usually have a special cake called βGΓ’teau Marie.β π° Itβs almost a must-have for the celebration!
Now, I have to confess something, π I usually donβt really like the ones sold in the shops. I much prefer making my own because, of course, I always think mine is better! π€£π©βπ³ But yesterday I simply didnβt have enough time to make one. So my nephew came to the rescue and bought one. And when I saw it, I thought, βOkay, this is not exactly my homemade GΓ’teau Marie, but letβs give it a chance!β π
And guess what? It came with LOTS of chantilly! π€£π°βοΈ Honestly, there was so much whipped cream that the cake was practically hiding underneath it! At this point, Iβm not sure whether we were celebrating the Assumption or the Assumption of the Cake into a Mountain of Chantilly! ππ
But traditions are traditions, and even when the cake isnβt homemade, it still brings everyone together around the table. β€οΈ Family, laughter, a little sweetness, and perhaps enough chantilly to last until Christmas! π€£
So today, Iβm still enjoying our little Mauritian tradition with a grateful heart, and trying very hard not to eat the whole cake! ππ°
