Royal Caribbean Cruise Passenger Rescued After Going Overboard in the Ionian Sea

A woman aboard Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas has been rescued after going overboard in the Ionian Sea near Greece.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, a cargo ship involved in the search spotted the flashing light on a lifebuoy during the early hours of October 10, 2026. The woman was found conscious and subsequently rescued by a search-and-rescue vessel.

After receiving first aid, she was taken ashore at Katakolo, Greece, and transported to a hospital for medical observation and testing.

The incident occurred while the cruise ship was on a week-long voyage that departed from Civitavecchia, Italy, on October 4. Authorities have not released the passenger’s identity or further details about how she went overboard.

The rescue highlights the importance of maritime search-and-rescue operations and emergency response at sea.

Rod Stewart - Sailing (Official Video) - 1975

LYRICS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yM11bBtbKaM

" Sailing " is a song composed by Gavin Sutherland of the  Sutherland Brothers  in 1972, best known as a 1975 international hit for  Rod Stewart .

"Sailing" was recorded by  Rod Stewart  for his first album recorded in North America rather than Great Britain:  Atlantic Crossing , which was recorded April – June 1975 at  Muscle Shoals Sound Studio  with  Tom Dowd  producing. The first single from the album, "Sailing" was an international hit, notably in the UK, where it was number 1 for four weeks in September 1975. It returned to the UK chart in 1976 and, with less success, in 1987. "Sailing" remains Stewart's biggest single hit in the UK. However, "Sailing" was not a hit in Stewart's newly adopted US homeland.
