Royal Caribbean Cruise Passenger Rescued After Going Overboard in the Ionian Sea

A woman aboard Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas has been rescued after going overboard in the Ionian Sea near Greece.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, a cargo ship involved in the search spotted the flashing light on a lifebuoy during the early hours of October 10, 2026. The woman was found conscious and subsequently rescued by a search-and-rescue vessel.

After receiving first aid, she was taken ashore at Katakolo, Greece, and transported to a hospital for medical observation and testing.

The incident occurred while the cruise ship was on a week-long voyage that departed from Civitavecchia, Italy, on October 4. Authorities have not released the passenger’s identity or further details about how she went overboard.

The rescue highlights the importance of maritime search-and-rescue operations and emergency response at sea.
