Who you going to be today?

Most people spend their lives holding on tightly to ideas about who they think they are. These ideas come from labels, roles, and repeated thoughts like “I’m this kind of person” or “I could never do that.” Over time, this creates a false identity that feels safe but actually limits growth and freedom.

There are two kinds of thinking. The first is practical thought. This is what you use to do everyday tasks—driving, cooking, solving problems. It’s useful and necessary. The second is self-thought. This is the voice in your head that tries to define you. It constantly repeats stories about your abilities, your worth, your past, and your future. These stories feel real, but they are just thoughts.

Many people are scared to let go of these self-thoughts because it feels like losing who they are. But what actually disappears is not your real self—it’s the false image you’ve been holding on to. When you release those labels, something powerful happens. You begin to live with a clear mind. Your day moves between practical thinking when needed, and moments of quiet awareness where you simply are.

You can start practicing this today. As you go through your day, notice your thoughts. Ask yourself, “Is this a practical thought helping me do something right now? Or is this a self-thought trying to label me?” If it’s practical, use it. If it’s a self-label, let it pass without grabbing on to it.

This simple practice creates space inside you. In that space, your True Self begins to emerge. You live with more presence, less fear, and more freedom to respond to life instead of reacting to old stories. That’s where real growth begins; when you stop clinging to the false self and allow who you truly are to shine through.
