So I’ve had a few watches in the past but over the last year or so I’ve got really hot and heavy on buying functional everyday pieces without breaking the bank. It was my birthday about a week ago so over the last month or so I’ve been buying myself a few pieces. I picked up the yellow seiko GMT because I saw it on a AD authorized poster one day and knew I had to have it 😂 bought my self the citizen eco drive when I went to my local jewelry store and they had the eco drive and I figured well a other field watch couldn’t hurt. My favorite over the last month or so now has been the vintage seiko 5 actus “Ukiyo-e” dial with the 2 edo period women on the dial. This was a common early gen mod to seikos back in the 60s and 70s and have become rare as time goes on. Eventually I do want an omega and Rolex but for the time being I cannot afford one. One day.

Yes it is true. They were Oooh'd at first....
I bought my very first automatic watch. Hamilton Khaki Automatic 42mm blue with the brown stitched strap.
I wanted it to be special so I opened it in front of my wife and my preteen kids together.
They were oohing at first. As I was admiring it, I naturally started to talk about the field watches in the world war and how hamilton pioneered them and then the quartz crisis came which cornered them to solely rely on the recently acquired Swiss factories. Now its a fine swiss maker. I mean i had to mention the quartz crisis right? How could I not? That means i have to mention Seiko too
In the middle of my chat, i saw my wife laughing at me and punched me in the arm saying what are you doing???
Then my kids laughed too.
Then for some unknown reason, they magically coordinated and vacated my room laughing, all within 5 seconds.
No one cares about your watches.

You guys made choosing my first watch harder…
Thanks for all the suggestions on my last post! I looked into a bunch of them and ended up changing my list quite a bit.
These are the ones I’m down to now. I’m in my late 20s, mostly dress casual/sporty and occasionally smart. Looking for a first proper watch that I can wear a lot and keep for years.
If you had to pick just ONE, which one would you go for?
