Where do your limits come from?

When I’m working with someone who struggles with confidence due to who they are or because of limiting beliefs tied to physical conditions, it’s crucial to help them understand the difference between what they can control and what they can influence. My philosophy is simple: control is an illusion. We don’t control life, our thoughts, emotions, or even the situations we face. But we do have influence—especially over how we respond. And that influence is where our true power lies.

Let’s say someone struggles with a physical limitation, like an illness or disability. It’s easy to let that condition define them, creating limiting beliefs like, “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll never succeed because of this.” But here’s the truth: the physical condition affects the body, not the person’s will, mindset, or potential—unless they allow it to. Confidence doesn’t come from the absence of challenges; it comes from how we respond to them.

Think of it like this: If it’s raining outside, you can’t control the weather. But you can grab an umbrella, put on a jacket, or choose to dance in the rain. Similarly, you may not control your circumstances, but you can influence your experience of them.

By shifting focus from what’s unchangeable to what’s influenceable—your mindset, attitude, and actions—you free yourself from self-imposed limits. You stop letting your condition define you and start letting your response shape your life. This is where confidence is built—from within, regardless of external challenges.

If this reached you or there was something that truly resonated with you, please like and share in hopes this will maybe reach someone that it could help.
