The shots of the Twin Towers were never intended to be in the movie and were made specifically for the trailer. Raimi, however, included some material to reflect the tragedy. Late in the film, as the Green Goblin menaces his foe, the people of New York team up to drive the villain off.

When the Twin Towers collapsed, I was in my student days. I was in our shared apartment, my roommate called me and I went into her room where there was a small TV. Just as I was looking at the screen, someone rushed out of the burning skyscraper. I was confused and asked what was on the TV and she told me that a plane was flying in there right now. #worldtradecenter #twintowers
