Are you getting older, or just giving up?

How many times have you heard someone say they are too old to start something new? Too old to get in shape, start a business, write a book, find love, or pursue a dream they have carried for years?

I hear it constantly. And what I find interesting is that many of these same people were making excuses when they were younger. Only now, age has become their most convenient explanation.

I have worked with and witnessed people of all ages accomplish incredible things. Not because their bodies never changed or life became easier, but because they refused to let the number of years they had lived determine what they were still capable of becoming.

I believe age is simply a measurement of time and experience. It tells us how long we have been here, but it doesn’t tell us how much life we have left to experience.

Of course, our physical abilities and circumstances change as we age. I understand that personally. But changing how we pursue something is entirely different from abandoning the pursuit altogether.

Think about that.

How many opportunities have you dismissed simply because you convinced yourself your time had passed?

How many dreams are still waiting for you to give them a chance?

I encourage you to stop measuring your future by your age and start measuring it by your willingness to participate in your own life.

You may not be able to do everything you once could, but that doesn’t mean you have exhausted everything you can still become.

As long as you have breath and a heartbeat, there is an opportunity to live within your fullest present capacity.

Don’t spend the rest of your life using the years you have lived as an excuse for the life you have yet to experience.
