Do Marvel Studios not license out their characters internally anymore?
Sounds weird to ask this question but here we go.
When Marvel was developing What If...? season 1 I believe that someone in their rank (It was Brad Winderbaum wasn't it?) said that they would be seeking out the sister divisions within Disney when the time is right, namely Pixar and WDAS.
So far they have been working with outside production companies, most of the time on animated projects. I believe Flying Bark is on the hook for What If...?, Marvel Zombies and Moon Girl, the latter of which is also primarily developed by Disney Television Animation unit; while Eyes of Wakanda has Proximity Media attached to it due to Coogler producing. Other than that, Marvel delegated Hit-Monkey to 20th Television Animation and that's about it.
But I haven't noticed them working with any other sister studios within the larger Disney ecosystem. Not anymore and they haven't been doing what Marvel Television (pre-restructure) did by attaching other studios to their projects. No ABC (who previously did their work on the Netflix shows), no FX (who gave us Legion), no 20th Television (20th Television, not 20th Television Animation) or Pixar or Walt Disney Studios.
So why?
