I recently bought a house with a walk-out basement and want to finish in another bedroom and bathroom. I know I need a window to keep the room an official bedroom, so I think I'm doomed to having to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom (not a big deal, not ideal). I have space I can go deeper behind me to extend the new "bedroom." I'd love to get a shower if I can and not just a toilet in there. I'm on septic and that's the drain for the house. Lucky for me that it drains downhill out of the basement. Drop ceiling makes it easy to get supply-side plumbing in.
Any recommendations on dealing with the existing pipe? And what about drainage for the toilet and shower? I was thinking a raised floor would be the answer, but not sure what to do to tap into this for drainage.
I'm pretty handy and have tools, electrical, and plumbing experience, but never took on a job specifically like this. I finished out the basement in my last house, but full rough-ins were there and buried. Advice?
