Anti-Vigilante Task Force Makes No Sense
This (among other things) is one of several problems with Born Again season 1, that I assume will bleed into season 2.
So you have a group of corrupt police officers who idolize Frank Castle, who take the law into their own hands when they believe justice isn’t being served. On its own, fine- but why on Earth are those the same corrupt cops that Fisk later makes into his anti-VIGILANTE task force. They’ve shown that they IDOLIZE vigilantism, and are happy to engage with it. Not to mention these guys should HATE Fisk. I realize this is likely because of the juxtaposition of the old writing team treating the series like a reboot, and the new team treat it as a continuation; but Fisk is like very publicly known to be a “kingpin of crime”. His release in season 3 was viewed as a mockery of the justice system, and resulted in him going back to prison.
This group of Punisher fanboys should’ve been gunning for Fisk. Their chaos and vigilantism should’ve been a part of Fisk’s campaign for an anti-vigilante task force. But the writers seem to lose any kind of nuance in favor of cheap political parallels.
I doubt season 2 will address this issue. Rather I think it’s just going to ignore the inconsistency entirely. I guess we’ll see.
