“The film opens with the following text: ‘This is a true story. The events depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 1987. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred’. “However, the closing credits bear the standard fictitious persons disclaimer used by works of fiction… according to which Joel Coen states… “If an audience believes that something's based on a real event, it gives you permission to do things they might otherwise not accept." A related story is told in the movie Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter (2014) an American drama film co-written and directed by David Zellner . The film stars Rinko Kikuchi , Nobuyuki Katsube , Shirley Venard, David Zellner, Nathan Zellner and Kanako Higashi. Alexander Payne and Kikuchi serve as executive producers. It is based on the urban legend surrounding Takako Konishi ’s search for the fictional ransom money seen buried in the snow from the 1996 film Fargo . Her death in Minnesota was ruled a suicide though some media outlets reported she had perished in the mistaken belief that the events in the movie Fargo were real. #Fargo #wikipedia #tangled #KumikoTheTreasureHunter
