Question about PPE, Fillerless TiG Seamwelding SS 304, 316 etc
New job and first time exposure to this field. First week here. Given safety glass and general material handling glaves. Nothing specific for this type of work.
Environment - Open air workshop setting with 2 tables in about 15000 sqft
Equipment - Table has set speed and amperage for autogenenous TiG welding seams longitudinally
Material - Stainless steel 304, 316 and related
Job conditions:
\-Hands are holding welding glass roughly 8-12 inches from the weld, assuming it is proper glass? I see a very dim green light through the glass tint.
\-Not wearing gloves or respirator. No fume extractor or dust collector.
\-Using a 24 inch or smaller fan to ventilate area between me and machine.
Question: Should I use gloves to protect from UV radiation and collection of dust/particles on my hands?
Should I be using a respirator in this setup?
More detail is best. Will read and consider any information provided. #industry source
