Is peaceful, nature-focused camping still a thing? How do…

Is peaceful, nature-focused camping still a thing? How do you actually find it?

We just got back from a weekend camping at a seaside town site and it was... not what we hoped for. In hindsight I think we made two mistakes: picking somewhere too close to a town, and picking an electric pitch (which seems to attract a specific type of set-up).

We just wanted a chilled weekend, throwing a ball around, reading, the kids running about. Instead we had a neighbouring pitch blasting euro dance music from mid-afternoon till 10pm, and dogs off lead everywhere despite it being an on-lead site (one chased my son and he ended up in tears).

For those of you who do the "quiet, back to nature, no fuss" version of camping well , how do you find those sites?

Things I'm wondering:

Do non-electric pitches genuinely filter out the loud/party crowd, or is that a myth?

Are smaller, more remote or rural sites just inherently calmer than ones near towns/seaside spots?

Any red flags in listings or reviews that tell you a site is going to be more "chilled family" vs "amenities and noise"?

Sites or booking platforms you'd actually recommend for this?

Would love to hear how you all do it, because right now it feels like a bit of a lottery.
