I want to try and set up a misting system for my isopod tanks that can ideally be linked to a moisture sensor in the soil of the tank. I have seen the mistking system and similar, but I don't think they can be automated in any way other than regularly scheduled mistings every one day or so.
For isopods, that's just too much misting. I would love something that senses when the soil moisture dips below a certain %, or tank humidity could work instead of soil moisture if that's too tricky. If that would involve a lot of complicated work, I would also be happy with just a system that I can manually control from my phone, and some moisture sensors that report in to my phone so I know when to turn the misters on.
I am thinking that it'll be far easier to do this with separate misters for each of my isopod tanks, rather than having each one connected by the same tube, but if there's a way to control each misting tap while having only one main tube that would be amazing.
I don't have much of a home automation system already (just Google Home and some Wifi controlled plugs), but I can dip my toe into something like Zigbee if I really have to.
Happy to answer any questions you may have about this potential setup, and I welcome any and all suggestions :) #home source
