Today I want to talk about something very important. The International Day to Combat Islamophobia reminds us that respect and understanding between people of different religions is very necessary for peace in the world. Thanks to former Prime Minister Imran Khan who raised this issue globally and encouraged awareness against hate and racism.
Q1- Before today, how aware were you of Islamophobia in everyday life, and what do you think people misunderstand most about Islam or Muslims?
Before today I was already aware that Islamophobia exists in many parts of the world. Many times people judge Islam by misinformation or by negative news shown in media. The biggest misunderstanding is that some people think Islam teaches violence, while the reality is that Islam teaches peace, kindness, patience, and helping others. These values are the real message of Islam.
Q2- Have you ever witnessed or experienced a moment of Islamophobia, online or in real life? How do you think people should respond when they see it happening?
Yes, I have seen Islamophobic comments online where some people make unfair statements about Muslims. It is painful because such comments spread hate and misunderstanding. When someone sees Islamophobia, the best response is to stay calm and reply with knowledge, facts, and respectful discussion. Awareness and education can reduce these misunderstandings.
Q3- What is one small action individuals or communities can take to reduce Islamophobia and promote respect between different cultures and religions?
One small but powerful action is learning about each other's cultures and religions. When people communicate, share knowledge, and understand each other, fear and hate decrease. Respectful conversations and positive representation can build harmony between different communities.
Let us promote peace, respect, and understanding for all people and all faiths.
