Smart radiator valve combined with motion sensor Hi there…

Smart radiator valve combined with motion sensor

Hi there,

Context: i'm the landlord of a studenthouse in belgium. The house exists of individual rooms(dorms) and communal places like kitchen, etc.. every room has ofc it's individual gas radiators, there's only one general meter.

Because students will leave their radiator on while going to class for a day, for the weekend or even for a full week. Fair enough, they're young..they have other things on their mind to turn off the valve. But cause there's only one meter, and the general bill is just split by everyone living in the house, i want to avoid that the once's who turn off the valve have to pay for the once's who forget it.

This (and just energy efficiency) is the reason i want to install smart radiator valves that i can connect with a motion sensor. So that it only turns on when there's no movement for let's say 45 minutes.

Does a system like this exist? Does anybody have experience with this? Does it properly work?

Seems like this system provides what i'm searching for:
Aqara Radiator Thermostat E1 Combined with Aqara motion sensor

But then my question would also be: wouldn't it in the end be potientially be more expensive cause my heating will turn on and off more frequently compared to turning it on the morning, not be in the house all day, come home in a warm room..?

What's your 2 cents? Thanks!
