First national park: RMNP or Grand Tetons?
We spontaneously have a free week to spend 5-6 days visiting a national park end of September. Originally, we wanted to do Grand Tetons; however, we are headed from Atlanta so it is a lot more travel time/not a direct flight. I have seen RMNP suggested as comparable, and it does seem stunning. We want to do lots of hiking and see some beautiful alpine scenery. If we do Tetons, we'd stay in Victor or Driggs for budget purposes. For all intents and purposes, RMNP is more convenient on all fronts, and overall seems comparable.
My question is: is Grand Tetons truly worth the extra flight time/money, or is RMNP just as worthwhile? Would love some insider opinions. Leaning towards the convenience factor of RMNP and a stay in Estes Park, but based on your experience, would we regret not doing Tetons? I have never been to a national park and truly appreciate your help. Not sure when we will be able to do a trip like this again so hoping to make the most of it
