Update and good night for today—I'm totally exhausted.
It was only after the operation today that we learned from the surgeon how close it had been. Even the doctors didn't know beforehand.
The surgeon said he had NEVER seen a gallbladder like this in his 30 years of practice.
It was completely inflamed, had over 100 gallstones, and one of its walls was already disintegrating. It wouldn't have taken much for it to fail completely—and that would have meant Andy would have died. Probably in minutes.
That's why the inflammation levels are still so high, because the gallbladder was one big inflammation.
The operation took three times longer than normal because they had difficulty getting everything clean. They had to rinse everything several times and clean it again and again.
And no one saw anything beforehand. He had a basic examination last year, and they only said that there was a stone there. Even now, in the emergency room, they didn't see anything on the ultrasound. Otherwise, they wouldn't have kept postponing his surgery to fit in emergencies. He was an emergency himself, but no one realized it.
I still feel quite sick.
But the good news are:
Andy is fine. He has virtually no pain and doesn't even need to take painkillers.
He just gets an antibiotic infusion three times a day.

I am so glad that Andy is better now, but, strangely, the ultrasound did not show the many gallstones.

Oh wow, I can only imagine how terrifying and exhausting that must have been for you. 😔 I’m so relieved to hear that Andy is okay and stable now, truly a miracle considering how close it was. You both have been through so much, and it’s completely normal to still feel shaken.

What a close call - and - with all this technology and modern medicine - it totally caught everyone off guard..moments like these, we realize how fragile life is. I am so happy to hear that he finally got the care he needed.
Now, the fact that he's in no pain and doesn't even need pain killers - what a beast! So damn happy you got through this

Thank you Danny! Yeah, we always think the modern technology Sees everything, but no, it doesn't.
They did not made a blood check for the inflammation Level before. Then they could have an idea whats going on. One simple test - I will insist on it on my next checkup.
