I think Marvel should try a film, similar to an 80’s John Hughes flick.
The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, 16 Candles…that sort of thing.
I already know that “The Young Avengers” won’t fit the bill, because when Marvel finally dies that it’s going to be in the reign of a “young adult novel” — Hunger Games, Twilight, Maze Runner, Divergent, etc. This is afterall how they tackled The Runaways and Cloak n’ Dagger.
John Hughes movies are mostly irreverent, and take risks outside of conventional norms. Oddly enough the closest time a superhero adaptation has ventured close that of a John Hughes film was the very first Deadpool movie.
Still, I’d like to see them give it a shot. Perhaps a Nova & Darkhawk film that Marvel could title “The New Warriors” — even tho it would just be in name only?
