How serious are you guys actually about PPE in the shop?

Genuinely curious about this because every shop I've been in seems to have a completely different culture around it.

Some places have a full rack of gear, gloves, face shields, respirators, hearing protection, and it's all actually being used consistently. Other shops have the same stuff sitting in a corner untouched while everyone's grinding away without so much as safety glasses on. And then there's everything in between.

I want to know what people here are actually running day to day, not just what's technically supposed to be there.

Like for eye and face protection, are you going basic safety glasses, full face shield, both depending on the task? For respiratory are you doing anything at all or just relying on ventilation and open doors? Hearing protection seems like one of the most skipped ones I've noticed, especially for shorter tasks where people don't think it's worth putting in earplugs.

Gloves are interesting too because I've heard arguments both ways, some people swear by them and others avoid them entirely around certain machinery for safety reasons.

And what about things people don't think about as much like proper footwear, welding jackets, or even just keeping a clean shop as a form of safety in itself?

I'm not trying to call anyone out, I'm just trying to get a realistic picture of what people are actually doing versus what the poster on the wall says you should be doing. Would love to hear what you use consistently, what you skip, and if there's anything you wish you had started using earlier.
