I've seen Skinamarink mentioned a few times lately, usually in various lists of "understated" #horror movies, or "hidden gems". Well I watched it, and I think it should have stayed hidden. No spoilers, mainly since there is no story to spoil. Two kids find themselves alone in a house, with parents missing and doors gone. They spend their time wandering around and watching cartoons.
It is a recently-made movie but filmed to look like scratchy old film and accompanying muddy audio. Most scenes are shot from weird angles, so you can just see the top of a door frame, or feet on a carpet. I've never seen a movie with so little activity. It's almost like a long series of still shots.
That said, it did give an ominous feeling throughout, and I was getting a sense of dread as we got into the second half. A few creepy moments, definitely. Maybe it was more a growing anticipation for * something * to happen. Glad I watched it, but this is going to rank up there on my list of weird horror #movies that may or may not be worth watching.
