My choice is a classic and bring back so many memories! To Kill a Mockingbird (released in 1962.) was a prescribed literature book in so many South African schools. it's based on a novel by Harper Lee (published in 1960)
Main cast: Gregory Peck (Atticus Finch), Mary Badham (Scout Finch), Philip Alford(Jem Finch) and Brock Peters (Tom Robinson)
Set in the American South during the 1930's the story is told through the eyes of Scout Finch a young girl growing up with her brother Jem, and their father Atticus Finch. Atticus, a respected lawyer is appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man falsely accused of a crime.
As the trial unfolds, Scout and Jem witness prejudice, courage and compassion first hand. Despite facing criticism from many in the community, Atticus remains committed to justice and doing what is right.
This film is praised for it's powerful message about justice, equality, moral courage, and standing up for what is right, even when it's unpopular.
One of the novel's most memorable lessons comes from Atticus;
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view"

As I was growing up, my parents dispensed pearls of wisdom - a gentle way of "knocking me into shape."

Your mother gave you just enough to spark your curiosity😱 It's amazing how a story can mean one thing when we're young and something completely different as adults, at least for me.🤫
