1. I am writing from the perspective of a child who had sibling rivalry. My older cousin was like a brother to me. Sometimes we were very close, but we also tried to outdo each other in games, studies, and family attention.
2. One strong memory I have is when family members compared our school performance. Even small comparisons made both of us feel pressured and competitive.
3. The rivalry is much smaller now because we both became more mature. Sometimes comparison still happens, but now it feels more motivating than painful.
4. This rivalry taught me confidence and independence. It also helped me understand that everyone has different strengths and talents.
5. I wish adults would avoid comparing children too much because it can create distance and hurt feelings without realizing it.
6. If I could talk to my younger self during those moments, I would say: “You are not in a race with anyone. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself.”
