I was putting off watching this after the accusations of “copaganda,” but caught it last night with my brother. I have to seriously question anyone who thinks this work is at all sympathetic to cops. Spoilers ahead.
The entire plot revolves around a mass riot of mob goons, who descend a city into anarchist violence after Frank kills their bosses. At no point is a cop interacted with. The closest we get is a cop car in the background of a single shot.
If anything this is anti-cop, because it really poses the question, “Where the fuck are the police?” We see entire streets in absolute chaos, for days at a times, but there ain’t a cop in sight.
The argument might be made that this is in fact mobaganda, because the events are set in motion after Frank kills all the mob bosses, thus painting such an action as inherently anarchist. The film then seems to revile in the idea that Frank ain’t exactly one of the good ones, but that’s par for the course for the character.
Can someone please explain to me how this was even remotely perceived as copaganda? #movies #video source
