How do you get wiser?
Wisdom is not automatically granted with age or experience. It is earned through awareness, humility, and the willingness to learn from every moment life presents. Many people live through countless experiences yet remain unchanged because they never pause to reflect. They move from one situation to another, reacting rather than learning, blind to the lessons life keeps offering.
Suffering alone does not create wisdom; reflection does. When pain arrives, the ego often interferes, whispering that we already know, that we’re right, or that others are wrong. This blocks growth. The Stoics reminded us that “it’s impossible to learn what you think you already know.” That truth is timeless. Growth requires quieting the ego and opening the mind. It requires being fully present to what life is showing you, without entitlement, blame, or resistance.
