We’re totally blown away—and also a little wistful—when we think back on our stay in Poland.
The whole atmosphere—whether we’re out partying at night or on a shopping tour during the day—feels just like Germany in the ’80s and ’90s.
I can’t really put it into words. You can feel the economic boom, the zest for life, and the stick together of the Polish people everywhere.
We made our way through a bustling city at night, filled with all kinds of revelers, as well as through a bustling city during the day. Everything was peaceful, and we didn’t see any “gold pieces”—that’s what we call those certain types of people in Germany whom you’d be wise to avoid by crossing the street if you don’t want to get into trouble.
We could finally move around freely again without having to constantly look over our shoulders—it was such a liberating feeling!
Polish women also wear very skimpy outfits—just like we used to back in the '70s and '80s. And they can! No one mugs or harasses her because of it. As a woman, that´s a great feeling - you are FREE - and can express you like you want to.
This trip was just wonderful in so many ways! I felt soooooo at ease.
The hotel was amazing. A 5-star hotel with 5-star cuisine—my goodness, the food was so good!!
And our party night on Friday was also amazing—we were down in a basement—and the owner fired up the karaoke machine. Most of the songs were in Polish, but that didn’t bother us at all. The ENTIRE bar sang along. I haven’t experienced anything like that in Germany in a very long time.

(We had 7-10 Guiness and Murphys each...I dont know exactly lol.)

Aber Magyar Péter hat das unterzeichneten den Migrantenpakt. Er hat das selber nicht gestanden....
Und er lügt, dass wir keine bekommen...
Bisher waren all seine Versprechen, mit denen er die Wähler überzeugt hat, Lügen.
Ich hoffe, er bleibt nicht lange im Amt; schon nach einem Monat gab es zwei Proteste gegen ihn.
Er ist ein Diktator, psychisch krank, ein narzisstischer Psychopath und eine große Gefahr für die Gesellschaft.

In Polen haben wir uns sooo frei gefühlt und sicher - und das in einer Innenstadt, die voller Menschen war. Sogar nachts, als viele betrunken waren. Es war alles friedlich.
Erst da fiel uns so richtig auf unter welcher Anspannung wir hier in der Stadt immer stehen... wir sichern uns ständig nach allen Seiten ab. Das ist kein Leben so, das ist fast wie Krieg.

Thank you for your kind words about my country. You should go to a concert in Poland. It's more energetic than in Germany.

The Polish language, however, is a real challenge for German speakers. I tried singing along at karaoke—the lyrics were at the screen, but it really wasn't easy. 😂
There's no point in learning Polish; young people speak English and German.

But your language is a nice language :) Unfortunately, I've always had a hard time with languages—but when I travel to another country, I try to learn at least a few words in the local language. :)
