Here is my breakdown of the asked questions in the activity. It base on a short real story when I punished (softly) to my daughter when she do lying about her school work. The Moment I felt like betrayal. Like trust breaking. So I punished her. Not just to discipline but to teach honesty. Sometimes when our child lies, it triggers something bigger inside us.
How It Felt Parentified feelings can show up like, 💜Heavy chest. 💜Anger that feels bigger than the situation “I have to fix this NOW.” 💜Feeling responsible for shaping her entire future in one moment. 💜Sometimes when we were forced to grow up early, we expect maturity from our children that we had to carry too soon.
Impact Now Here’s where parentification shows up quietly. I feel responsible for her honesty as a reflection of my parenting. I may fear she’ll grow into someone untrustworthy. Difficulty tolerating mistakes , Not because I am harsh , Because I care deeply.
One Takeaway Punishment teaches consequences But connection teaches safety. I build that “In this house, honesty is more important than perfection.”
