How much do you trust water filters?
Sorry for the noob question, but I'm a total beginner when it comes to filters. I have a Katadyn Hiker Pro that I've never used. I'm thinking of bringing it on a trip and want to know how much you can trust these. Can you draw water from any source or do you have to find clear flowing water? Do you boil the water or use purifiers after filtering? Does this after-treatment depend on the source of the water? Basically, can I feel comfortable pumping water from any random source and drinking it without further treatment? I'm located in northern Europe if that makes a difference.
