I don't understand the ending of Jordan Peele's "Us"
I finally watched the movie and really enjoyed it until end. Adelaide and Red being switched when they first met made perfect sense throughout the entire movie except for when Red was talking to Adelaide underground. She said how she wished Adelaide took her with her and wanted to kill her because of that. It also shows us how she's mimicking life above even after the point where they supposedly swapped places. So this whole conversation should have completely disproven that the swap happened, right?? But they did swap because Adelaide remembers that they did. Am I missing something? I know it's an allegorical movie that doesn't need to make perfect sense but it's impossible to suspend disbelief when it doesn't make sense at all.
