Hey everyone I’m looking at starting to race motorbikes at club level next year and have this year to train, however I’m running into a predicament

The predicament is what class I should race 500cc or 600cc. Obviously racing a lower cc will help me in the future when it comes to skill and I do want to be very competitive in terms of that but when it comes to costs it seems buying a 600cc race ready bike is cheaper then turning my 2024 ninja 500 into a race ready bike.

I have been riding for 2 years have done a few track days, I am confident but definitely not maxing out the ability that the ninja has, my question is how bad could it actually be training on a 600 and would it slow my development and skill down so much that it’s worth the extra cost- a 600cc race bike I can find for around 8kaud but turning my ninja would cost from 4-5k depending on how many mods and how race ready I’d like it to be. Here’s another thing - I love riding bikes all the time I need to, but if I turn my ninja into a race bike that leaves me with no legal bike to ride day to day but if I buy a separate race bike that leaves me with two bikes and one that I won’t mind damaging if I push it to hard

For my Australians out here as well a little more insight to club racing would be amazing, would starting at a lower cc be beneficial or would 600cc be ok

Bit long. My bad
