Using spices to preserve raw meat
Ok alot of spices have antimicrobial properties and where used to help preserve food before refrigeration and one problem mountain hunters have is getting meat out quickly enough before it spoils other is making sure animals dont get into such as racoon possum bears wasps so i was curious can store bought spice be used for helping preserve meats such as using spice like cayenne pepper to & 2 spiciness of it help ward off some animal from eating it or would this only work for fresh spices ?
Also what spice or other similar would make sense for this salt is another i can think of
