Making a black forest flavoured cake to decorate with buttercream?
Hi!! I have a birthday coming up soon and want to bake a cake and would like to hear some advice/tips/recommendations! I was hoping to make a black forest cake, but I also wanted to decorate the outside with wafer paper (and omit the usual chocolate bark/ganache toppings of a BF cake). I've heard that wafer paper does not do well with the moisture of whipped cream, so I was wondering, would it be possible to make the cake with its usual fillings and whipped cream, crumb coat with buttercream and then decorate with the wafer paper? I've never baked a cake that wasn't boxed cake mix, so I would love to hear your thoughts!
Also, if you have any BF cake recipes, please send them my way! My main contenders atm were Sally's and Liv for Cake! :)
