Raw jazz

I’m interested in this apparent contradiction.
Jazz is often treated as a form of high culture today: something academic, sophisticated, even a bit elitist. But historically, it emerged from marginalized communities, bars, brothels, and working-class neighborhoods.
With that in mind, what albums do you think best embody the opposite of the “conservatory” or “chamber jazz” mindset? I’m looking for records that feel raw, unruly, earthy, communal, or deeply rooted in jazz’s more street-level origins rather than polished or institutionalized.
They don’t have to be classic albums, either. Contemporary records are just as welcome.
What comes to mind?
