I’ve noticed something about Anthony Hopkins I never see mentioned or discussed, anywhere!
He has a certain mannerism or verbal tic I’ve noticed in essentially every Hopkins film I’ve seen. I’m talking about the pensive ”…yeah”.
Once you hear it, I don’t think you can ever not.
He has this tendency to pause during dialogue and quietly say “…yeah”, often almost as an afterthought. Not just a normal conversational “yeah” answering a question. It’s more like: Thought -> reflective pause ->“…yeah” -> next thought.
Almost like privately confirming what he just said or acknowledging the weight of the thought itself.
