It's Mushroom Season Once Again!
The Philippines is once again under the spell of the wet season, especially in most parts of Luzon, the northernmost and biggest island that composes the Philippine archipelago, whereas incessant rainfalls brought by the monsoon winds are being experienced in the said area. For a mountain dweller like me, the monsoon weather is synonymous with the mushroom season because this is the best time for these species of fungi to spawn and grow in forested places, and this occurrence is what every mountain dweller awaits as edible wild mushrooms will become in abundance at the boondocks. Aside from the edible ones, a lot of non-edible species will grow, which I should be very careful with as non-edible mushrooms are toxic; however, they are one of the best subjects for photography.
Shown in the video is my actual walk to look for edible wild mushrooms and other stuff that can be consumed as food, like the leaves of bitter gourd, bamboo shoots, wild papayas, and jute leaves, which become in abundance during the rainy season. This is also the best time to watch butterflies, especially when the sun shows up for a while after continuous days of rain, and I included a clip of a golden butterfly flying in the meadow with its striking yellow and black color combination of its wings. By the way is the flower is from the Molave tree locally known as "tugas" in most parts in the Philippines that speak Visaya that is where my dad got my second name!😉 And the butterfly is called golden birdwing which is endemic to Southeast Asia. 🤗♥️🫰

Same here especially when I recall that mushrooms used to grow in our backyard and my grannies wrap the mushrooms in banana leaves for grilling... Nowadays, I need to walk two kilometers or more just to find mushrooms in the boondocks.🤗♥️🫰
