Basketball Hoop Driveway Install Location

Hi everyone! Our 7-year-old son is really getting into basketball, and I need some help validating that I'm selecting the right location before I start digging the hole for my newest DIY project.

I'm thinking about installing it parallel to the garage doors on the other side of the driveway (see below image). Basically, it gives 21.5' on either side of the hoop and up to approximately. 50' to the garage doors. Any other location suggestions or does this look good?

The measuring tape is where the pole will be located in the grass. https://preview.redd.it/org7l9zrqzdh1.jpg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f0aa8801e24c136c3ef7dde1bb2cda0fd3580f8b

We ordered the PROforce 660 height adjustable hoop and it says it has a 2.5' overhang. I'm thinking about putting it 6" behind the angled curb so that the backboard is approximately 1.5' into the driveway. Does that make sense? I know nothing about proper overhang and this is the part that confuses me the most. Is that too much overhang?

I'm great at construction projects (installation looks very straightforward) but totally clueless on basketball in general and selecting a location in particular. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
