The current system has both hot and cold water but I only need the cold water moving forward. I have done some minor plumbing repair previously but nothing this big.
So my plans are:
1. Add shutoff valves with drains on the inside (we have freezing winter) 2. Cut off the pipe after the first elbow right before it turns horizontal. 3. Cap the hot water pipe. 4. Add a spigot on the cold water pipe.
Questions are:
1. The spigot is going to be free standing which I assume isn't great. How do I add some backing to help? I am thinking maybe a post of some sort? 2. I feel like there got to be a better way to do this and to make it look nice. Perhaps remove the pipe and use a spigot has a wall section. However, that would make the spigot very low. 3. Is there a way to completely remove the cold water pipe? What do I use to fill in the left over hole? #diy source
