Old Light fixtures work - new ones do not! Any thoughts?
We have a very old house. We wanted to replace two old sconces. 1 fell off the wall and that seemed like a sign. The wires coming out of the wall are both white with copper (looking, at least) wires at the end. I removed the caps and tried replacing it with a new fixture. Because we do not have a white and black wire from the wall, I tried it both ways. But they do not turn on. I have just left the grounding wire wrapped around the green screw as there is no 3rd grounding wire in the wall. Pictures here
